The facts about the Roulette Odds.

Before entering the wonderful world of roulette gambling, I strongly urge you to familiarize yourself with the various roulette odds and house edges. After all, these statistics will determine how and where you place your money on the roulette table.

There are several payout odds on a roulette wheel. The best bet for the gambler is undoubtedly the even money bets. These incorporate high/low, odd/even and red/black bets and will pay out 1:1. If you decide to bet on the dozen and column option, you are faced with a 2:1 payout. It is good idea to avoid the number five on a roulette wheel that is the number with the worst odds in the game and pays out 5:1.

Finally, there are four bets that have extremely bad odds for the gambler and should only be considered once you are very familiar with the game, if at all. In descending order of odds, these wagers are as follows: the corner bet which pays out 8:1, the street bet that pays out 11:1, the split bet that pays out 17:1 and the straight up bet that pays out a whopping 35:1.

As can be seen, the best way to go in a game of roulette is to stick to even money bets. The house edge can be brought even lower by combining these even bets with the en prison rule. The thrill of roulette, however, is in the wagering and you could try your luck with the options that come with greater house edges to add an element of challenge into your game. However, remember that odds are odds and it simply means that you have less chance of winning if you choose the chancier options.

Bear in mind that roulette is a game of chance and these statistics apply to the overall averages. If you are having a bad day at the casinos, the odds may be stacked higher against you and you may be better off walking away from the wheel and trying your luck at a later time.
