Microgaming Roulette is actually European Roulette that has a wheel and a table with numbers from 0 to 36. European Roulette started over 150 years ago with just 36 numbers, until later the 0 was added to give the house better odds on wins verses their losses. There is only one 0 in European Roulette and the 00 added to the American Roulette game giving the house even higher odds of winning. The houses edge is 2.63 in European Roulette and 5.26 percent with American Roulette.
In Microgaming Roulette there are several characters which make up the game, and they are;
-
The Roulette Wheel with numbers from 0 to 36 making 37 numbers total. The Roulette Wheel is spun in a counter-clockwise direction. Each number is recessed at the bottom of the Roulette Wheel in its own slot with alternating red and black colors, the 0 being green in color, to trap the roulette ball after it has dropped and stops moving and settled.
-
The Roulette Ball is pushed around a track on an upper ledge inside the wheel in a clockwise direction, the opposite direction of the rotation of a spinning Roulette Wheel.
-
The Roulette Table or betting table has 37 numbers on it. Each number in its own square, half of the numbers are red in color and the other half are black. There are also betting odds and colors placed on two sides of the table.
-
The Betting Chips which have different color schemes for each betting amount, where each person should place his or her desired chip on the betting table before the “all bets closed” is called.
-
The Roulette Wheel Operator is the Dealer who collects cash in exchange for betting chips, spins the wheel, rolls the ball in its track at the start of each game, watches the bets placed, calls “all bets closed”, calls the number slot of which the roulette ball drops into, places the Win Marker on the table and pays out chips to the winners of each game.
-
The Win Marker is used by the Dealer, by placing it on the winning number on the table where the bets are placed, at the end of each game.
-
The Roulette Player or bettor is the person placing the bets at the start of each game on the number they think the ball will stop on next.

Land based casinos use several different colored betting chips for each person, to keep bettors from cheating the house by switching chips on the roulette table, while the Dealer is not watching. The roulette chips are for that specific table only and must be cashed in at the same table the bettor is playing at, by switching them with regular casino chips by the Dealer, if he or she wishes to play elsewhere in the casino.
There are different payout combinations in Microgaming Roulette, one being inside bets and another being outside bets. The Outside bets are a way to spend a lot of time at the roulette wheel if you have time to kill, where the odds and payouts are low but the payouts may come more frequently. The Inside bets are long-shot bets with higher odds and the chance of winning more chips, but with odds so high, your chances of catching those odds may be less frequent than with the Outside bets.
The odds of chance and skills involved in a game of Microgaming Roulette are like many games, the more you play the more you learn and thus the more you can win. Information on playing the odds in Microgaming Roulette can be found in the European Roulette Strategies section.
